Rerun #3 - Be Still

This was originally posted on my Teacups and Time Blog last January. I have made a few changes. After visiting Without Wax today, I was prompted to share this post again.

Be still and know that I am God.
Psalm 46:10

I have felt a call of late. It is beckoning my very soul into its presence. It asks nothing more of me than to be quiet. It would seem at first glance that I am being asked the impossible.

The frenetic pace of life has infected me with its virus of restless and wandering thoughts. I am tainted, contaminated but thankfully, not terminal.

So, I wait.

In the quiet of my surroundings, I wait. Loudly and impatiently, I wait.

There is a mystery in silence.

Surrender and healing draw near.

Be still and know that I am GOD

You are the Alpha and Omega. All things are created by your hand. Nothing, absolutely nothing happens without your knowledge. Great are you, Lord, and mighty in power. My existence is by your hand. My very breath is whispered from your lips.

Be still and know that I AM

You were before anything was. You are here now. You will forever be. What You are I am not nor will I ever be.

Be still and KNOW

It doesn't come easy. Good things rarely do. Priceless items like wisdom and knowledge are treasures to seek. I know very little, save the fact, I want you Lord - morning, noon, night, inside, out, above, around and below - only to know You.

Quiet me. I create my own clamor. Incessantly, even when I don't want to, I do. Turn my very being away from the outward things and toward you.

Exist in Him.
Exist for Him.
Breathe Him alone.

  1. Hello there my sweet Denise.Hope you have a great weekend.Blessings, Faye

  2. Denise,

I love how God confirms to us through one another. I'm in a season where He is telling me to Be Still. To know Him. To grow closer, and to not worry about man and what man says...listen to God.

    Thank you sweet friend,

  3. Wow, this is a powerful post. It really spoke to me. Thank you for sharing!!

  4. Beautiful post and just what I needed to hear! Thanks for the reminder to Be still and know that He is God!

  5. I'm glad you posted this one again, Denise. It is beautiful, and something I often need reminded of.

    Bless you this day.

  6. This is beautiful and refreshing. Thank you for longing for more of GOD so much so that you understand the need to be still in His presence.

Thank you for the warm words you left on one of my blogs.

May the peace of God rule in your life and may every need you and your family have be met in Him and unto His glory in Jesus Name. Amen.

    Love ya!

  7. I need some stillness, friend. The world is creeping in; I'm aware of its intrusive nature. Still and yet, with all the noise, it's hard to find God.

    Seeking his peace this day~elaine

  8. Hi Denise,

I'm new to your blog site. I came by after vising Yolanda. I wanted to introduce myself to you.

This is an awesome post. We can never be reminded enough to Be Still and Know Him. Yours words and thoughts are truly beautiful and I love your heart for Him. I've just become a follower of your blog after reading this post as well as adding your button to my site. I would be honored if you would check out my site as well. If you feel led, I would welcome you with open arms as a follower. If you do, would you sign my guestbook as well?

    God bless you,

  9. So beautiful, Denise! It is truly in the stillness that we can hear His voice the best...

    Bless you!

  10. I needed this today. God is working on me to be still, too.
    ~ Wendy

  11. Denise:

I really appreciated your comments left on Yolanda's post today too! I jumped over here to read your blog. You girls were moved by the Spirit - in tune!

I love this verse - but many leave off the ending part...
"I will be exalted among the nations [heathen],
I will be exalted in the earth."

In context of the entire Psalm - they were in the midst of turmiol and calamity - they neeeded the Refuge of God's care. The Lord finishes the 'being still' with His purpose - SO THAT [His Name] will be exalted, praised, revered, worshiped, among every nation, tongue, and tribe - in all the earth!

The final verse [11] after the "be still" verse says:
    "The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress." Selah

So after all their troubles, calamity and fear - they come back to the TRUTH that God is WITH them THROUGH it all.

Selah comes last - pausing to take in - the entire chapter of this Scripture in all that is being said - to ponder it and measure it against the lies of the enemy!

Great stuff here. Thanks for sharing on here and Yolanda's post!

    Hope to stop back again!

    Choosing JOY,
    [JESUS -The One I Worship]
