Sweet Silence

Sweet silence I beg
do not leave me.
Rather, surround me
in your gentle arms.
In your sweet caress,
may I find peace.
In your warm embrace,
may I find love.
In your quiet comfort,
may I find forgiveness.
Oh, gentle spirit
graceful and true.
In your presence,
I know that God exists.
In the sweetness of solitude,
He speaks to me.

I hope that all of you are enjoying the sweets of the summer. As you can see, I have been to one of my favorite soft-serve stands here. It is a throwback to a generation ago and just as yummy now as I am sure it was then.

These last few days have been wonderful. Quiet, restful and full of tangible moments of God's love. I pray that you will find such moments in your day. They are there, we just need to slow down and savor the sweetness He provides.

  1. Man, that looks delicious! There's nothing I like better than hitting the drive-thru at McD's for a vanilla cone. One of the simple pleasures in this life, although theirs never quite stack up like this one.

I'm at my mom and dad's tonight; she'd doing some editing work for me, bless her heart! In addition, I'm enjoying the "silence" of being without my kids for at least 24 hours. I didn't realize how much I missed it until I arrived here.

Enjoy your golden moments of intimacy with God.

  3. I could do some damage to a cone that size...

How are you, friend? I miss my days of blogging like crazy, but life demands a different season of late.

Know that you are lifted up.

  4. That is such good advice. Cease striving eh? Oh and that Ice Cream makes me hungry! Is it ok to have dessert right before bed?

  5. Sweet moments are everywhere if we take the time to slow down and look for them! Ice cream is a great summer moment! Along with so many others!

  7. Two years ago I would have wanted to dive into that photo but the Lord delivered me literally from ice cream. If you knew my history you'd praise the LORD with me over that one :)

I'm so glad my sister that you are obviously enjoying your summer and sweet silence as well.

    Stay sweet.

  8. Oh, I'm an ice cream kind of gal. That's exactly what I had for dinner, home-made chocolate icing drizzled over ice cream. Does a body good...dealing with adjustments on my braces today. ;-)

    Love,
    Yolanda

PS: Being with God does a body good as well. Hubs is gone, so I'm gonna go dig in for a second helping.....
